Michael Mitrow: Teach Your Kids to Ski

Skiing is one of the most popular wintertime outdoor sports. It’s a much older sport than many people realize. Rock carvings discovered in modern-day Norway, dating back to 2500 BC, are the oldest known depictions of people skiing.

Michael Mitrow and his family have been enthusiastic skiers for many years. Every year they make several trips to resorts in Utah and Colorado to ski. Michael Mitrow says it’s a great activity and fun for the whole family. He recommends teaching your children to ski so they are able to enjoy winter sports and are able to keep fit during the winter. Michael Mitrow’s children love skiing as much as he does, and they appreciate the fact that he made sure they received the proper instruction on skiing.

There are forty states in America that have ski resorts, and the Breckenridge resort in Colorado is one of the most popular in the country. The youth training program at Breckenridge is second to none. Michael Mitrow says that many of the instructors at Breckenridge will work with children on a one on one basis to make sure they understand how to properly slow down and stop and are comfortable on the skis before they are taken to the slopes.

Not all ski instructors were created equal, and when teaching children to ski it is important to find one who is comfortable with teaching kids. Children’s instructional needs are very different than those of adults. Michael Mitrow recommends interviewing several instructors before you choose one to teach your children to ski. It is important that your child is able to follow directions and understand basic safety rules.
Normally, resorts will match ski instructors to particular age groups. Michael Mitrow advises that it is important to make sure that the instructor you choose is licensed and has been a ski instructor for some time.
